Lech Antonio Uszynski has emerged as one of the most promising violists of his generation. He is an exceptionally dedicated and gifted performer whose passionate artistry has been heard and embraced around the world.
Chamber music is an important element of his work and life. Lech Antonio is the violist of the Stradivari Quartet which successfully performs on major stages around the globe (such as Kioi Hall Tokyo, Wigmore Hall London and NCPA Beijing). 2010 he founded the "Duo Cremona" with the young pianist Andriy Dragan, which is prizewinner of the ORPHEUS competition 2011.
Lech Antonio has performed with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, Bron Chamber Orchestra, Aukso Chamber Orchestra and the Eureka Springs Symphonic Orchestra. In January 2011, he went on a European Tour with the Young Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under Maestro Mark Mast. The highlights of his upcoming concert appearances include a Germany tour in January 2013, where he will perform at major concert halls with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bonn. Along with numerous recitals and chamber music concerts, he will also be on tour in the seasons 12/13 with the Stradivari Quartet in Japan, China and the US. In October 2012 the Duo Cremona will hold their recital tour in the Ukraine.
In June 2011 Lech Antonio recorded Steve Reich's string quartets "Different Trains" & "Triple quartet" for EMI Classics, with the London Steve Reich Ensemble under the baton of Kevin Griffith. In February 2009 he performed the Viola solo part in Strauss' «Don Quixote» (Sancho Panza) at the Tonhalle Zurich under the conductor Roberto Benzi and the well known Swiss cellist Thomas Demenga. He also had the honor to participate in summer 2009 at the IMAS (International Music Academy - Switzerland) under the artistic direction of Maestro Seiji Ozawa with whom he performed at Théatre des Champs Élysées in Paris and Victoria Hall in Geneva.
He appears regularly as a recitalist and chamber musician at international festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein, Interlaken Classics, CICA music festival and NCPA concert series. He has performed with Zakhar Bron, Antoine Tamestit, Gerard Wyss, Premysl Voita and Yulianna Avdeeva. Lech Antonio has a great passion for teaching and held masterclasses at places such as the Conservatory of Music in Beijing, CICA Music Festival in Eureka Springs and Dallas and the Four Seasons Festival in Riehen.
Lech Antonio Uszynski was born 1986 in Padova, Italy as the son of a Polish family of musicians. He grew up in Switzerland where he studied violin under Professor Ana Chumachenco and Professor Zakhar Bron in Zurich. There he achieved his Master with distinction in 2007. He also completed a chamber music diploma with distinction under Prof. Gerard Wyss. He drew inspiration for viola performance from Rudolf Barshai. Lech Antonio is prizewinner of numerous national and international awards and competitions. Lech Antonio Uszynski was invited by maestro Thomas Chun-yu Chen to join CICA (Chen's International Culture And Art) international education projects of CICA summer music festival and Dallas Antonio Stradivari violin making researches.
He is playing one of the 9 remaining Stradivari violas, the "Gibson" 1734. He is deeply thankful to the Habisreutinger-Stradivari Foundation for the loan.
